Mounties Welcome Latest Recruit for 2021-2022 season!

The Mounties Women's basketball program is pleased to announce the addition of Isabella Jones as part of its 2021-2022 recruiting class. Isabella will be joining the Mounties in the fall where she will pursue a Bachelor of Science degree.

Isabella is from St. George, NB where she is a member of the Fundy High School Mariners, winners of the NBIAA Provincial Championship in 2020. She has represented Basketball New Brunswick for multiple summers including at the 2018 Canadian National Championships in Fredericton. 

"Isabella has a great work ethic, she is extremely committed to the weight room and has a passion for training on her own which should make for a smooth transition to playing at the next leve,l" said Head Coach Ryan Chase. "We really like her ability to stretch the defense with perimeter shooting, her physicality defensively, and her understanding of the game. She is a willing communicator and should be a welcome fit with our program".

Isabella found plenty that interested her about Mount Allison."A few of the things that caught my attention about MtA were the academic freedom that students have between disciplines and a consistent ranking as top undergraduate school in Canada. I think I will also enjoy the small community of Sackville that supports the school", she noted.

Although not the grade 12 season she had hoped for she was still able to make a connection with the program. "Personally, I was fortunate to have played for BNB for multiple years and be familiar with the Mount A coaching staff. I met virtually with Ryan and got to talk basketball; many of my aspirations for the future aligned with what Mount A had to offer."

Coach Chase is excited to bring Isabella into the fold next year, "we're very pleased to be able to add someone with Isabella's passion and competitiveness, we can't wait to see her in a Mounties uniform next fall".

Bella is looking forward to the opportunity as well. "The biggest goal I have going into first year would be to find a balance between athletics and academics with the new university lifestyle. I think my competitive nature and dedication will help me put in the work to contribute as a rookie."
