The Mount Allison Mounties hosted the Acadia Axemen on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Field, where a fast start from the visitors proved decisive in a 3–1 result.
Acadia wasted no time establishing control, with Toni Adeoye scoring twice inside the opening half-hour. Adeoye first connected in the 6th minute off a setup from Jabu Deng, then doubled the lead in the 31st with help from AJ Magamura. The Axemen pressed their advantage further when Magamura found the back of the net in the 39th minute, assisted by Sam Young, sending Acadia into halftime up 3–0.
Mount Allison regrouped in the second half and began pushing back. Their persistence was rewarded in the 72nd minute when Damon Gordon slotted home a solo effort to give the home fans something to cheer about. Despite a stronger showing in the final stretch, the Mounties couldn't overcome the early deficit.
The result moves Acadia to 1–1 on the season, while Mount Allison continues to search for their first win at 0–2. Next week, September 5th, the Mount Allison soccer teams will travel away to Moncton to face the University of Moncton; the Acadia soccer teams will travel to Halifax to face the Dalhousie Tigers.
