(Halifax, NS)--Two goals three minutes apart late in the second half proved the difference in a 2-2 draw Saturday afternoon between the Mount Allison Mounties and the SMU Huskies in AUS men's soccer action.
An Anthony Maddalena (Halifax, NS) goal put the Mounties up 1-0 in the 45th minute off a free-kick deflection. An unlucky bounce off the SMU wall, the ball found its way to Maddalena's boot, beating SMU keeper Christan Oxner (Halifax, NS) 1-0.
Red cards were shown serveral times to both teams in the match and one red card in the 88th minute gave Mount Allison a chance to level the match. Regan Lynch (Waverly, NS) beat Oxner and MTA pulled even 2-2.
SMU outshot MTA (10-6) and each team had two corner kicks and two saves in the match.
MTA gained their first point of the season 0-2-1 and SMU adds a single 0-1-2 2pts.
The Mounties host No. 7 CIS-ranked CBU Capers Sunday at 3:15pm. SMU hosts UPEI Panthers 0-3-0 September 25th at 3:15pm.
