Mounties Beat X-Men 24-20 in Senior Day Thriller
(Sackville, NB) The Mount Allison Mounties secured their first win of the 2025 AUS Football season in a back-and-forth game with the St. Francis Xavier X-Men.
After falling behind early, the Mounties responded with multiple long drives that resulted in points. First Kicker Graeme Maither connected on a 22-yard field goal, then Quarterback Nicolas Chabot punched in a short yardage run. Receiver Jaden Litzenberger brought down a spectacular jumping touchdown catch to bring the Mounties within one score, which was followed up by another short yardage touchdown run by Chabot after a defensive stop. The X-Men had a chance to win the game late, but a pass from Quarterback Silas Fagnan fell just incomplete in the endzone intended for Receiver Caleb Tremblay. The final score was 24-20 for the Mounties.
Running Back Malcolm Bussey had a pair of rushing touchdowns for the visiting X-Men, and Kicker Tyson Heather knocked down a pair of field goals.
