Mounties Fall Short on Homecoming Against Acadia
(Sackville, NB)
Mount Allison fell 21–11 to Acadia, despite a late push in the final minute. The Mounties trailed throughout but showed resilience, scoring a fourth-quarter touchdown and adding a rouge point.
Early mistakes proved costly, as Acadia capitalized on two first-quarter miscues to take a 14–0 lead with touchdown receptions by Xander Matheson and Jase LeBlanc, both from Quarterback Tyran Duval. Mount Allison responded with two safeties and a touchdown pass from Xavier Uhr to James Laceby, but a failed two-point conversion kept them from closing the gap any further.
Acadia (1-2) are at home next week against the Bishop's Gaiters, kickoff is set for 3:00pm. Mount Allison (0-4) are on a bye next week, then travel to Bishop's on Saturday, September 27th, kickoff is at 3:00pm EST.
The Mounties recognized former great Gary Ross at halftime, officially retiring his #80 jersey in a ceremony attended by fellow Mountie greats Grant Keaney and Eric Lapointe, the only other two to have their numbers retired in Mount Allison Football history.
