Mount Allison Mounties Women's Soccer is pleased to announce new recruits

The Mount Allison Mounties Women's Soccer program is pleased to announce the commitments of three key incoming players: Kiana Gagnon (New Brunswick), Alexandra Nuyens (Nova Scotia), and Sophie Austin (Ontario) will all be joining the Mounties for the 2018 season.

Kiana has trained through the Codiac High Performance Academy and has been a major contributor to Team NB, most recently as part of the Canada Games squad that represented New Brunswick at the 2017 summer games. “Kiana has great pace and technical skills that are complemented by her work ethic”, commented Head Coach Gene Ouellette. “She will be a great teammate as she joins our other Team NB alumni, Maddie Hill (2nd year), Taryn MacMillan (4th year), and Kate Ollerhead (4th year).”

Alexandra has played the past 6 seasons with the Dartmouth Football Club, and has also trained with the Farias Soccer Academy in Halifax. She was named to the Metro High School All Star team this past year and is currently playing with United Dartmouth Football Club in the top-tier Nova Scotia Premier League. “Alex is a physically strong and versatile player”, commented Head Coach Gene Ouellette. “She is also a strong leader as evidenced by her past captaincies and awards and I am confident she will be a major contributor to our team moving forward”.

Sophie hails from the West Ottawa Soccer Club (WOSC), where she helped backstop her team to a bronze medal finish in the highly competitive OYSL U17 provincial league (2017). She has also had experience as a call-up to WOSC’s team within the top tiered semi-professional Womens League 1. “Sophie brings both a sense of calmness and confidence to the position of goalkeeper”, says Coach Ouellette. “I expect her to make an immediate impact and she is a great match for the Mount Allison experience”. Sophie joins fellow WOSC alumni on our squad, Morgan Lundin, Audrey Ward, and Amanda Piltzmaker (all 2nd year).
