The Mount Allison Women's Soccer team fell 4-1 to the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues in their home opener of the 2016 campaign at Alumni Field in Sackville, NB.
An end-to-end first half closed on an extra time goal by Moncton's Marilou Laroque to mark the first frame tally at 1-0.
There were 4 goals in the second half with Vickie Savoie on a penalty kick, Alexandra Maltais and Laroque notching a second marker – all for the Aigles Bleues. The Mounties' lone score was an "own goal" by Moncton credited to the last Mountie touch off the toe of Mountie rookie, Sophie Nicholson (Bible Hill, NS) but good enough for a first career AUS credit.
The Mounties travel to Wolfville, NS on Sunday to face the Acadia Axewomen on Raymond Field at 1:00pm.
The squad's next home match is Sunday, September 18 at 1:00pm when they host Cape Breton University Capers.
