Matt Gamblin is the head coach of the Mounties' women's basketball program. Gamblin, who lives in Amherst, NS, began his role as head coach in late April, 2013.
Gamblin brings an impressive resumé both as a player and a coach to the Mounties' basketball program. After a standout minor basketball career that saw Gamblin play for Team Nova Scotia on four different occasions, he went on to play Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) basketball at both Kings and Mount Saint Vincent University before knee injuries ended his playing career.
Gamblin immediately transitioned into a coaching role after his playing career ended. Most recently, he has spent the past four years working with the Amherst High School Vikings' boys' basketball program. After two years as an assistant coach, Gamblin took over as head coach in 2011 and this past season he guided the Vikings to a Nova Scotia provincial championship. He has also worked as a co-coach for the Northumberland section of Basketball Nova Scotia's Regional Training Centre program. Gamblin has a Bachelor of Arts degree (economics) from Dalhousie University and an Education degree from Crandall University. He is also NCCP certified (Intro to Competition Advanced) and in the process of completing his Train to Compete certification.
