Steve Chapman – Steve Chapman returned to his alma matter two years ago and has helped guide the Mounties to two consecutive 2nd place finishes in the ACAA including the schools first ever appearance in the CCAA National Championships in 2017.
Chapman previously served as the Mounties head coach from 1992-2000. He is also a former Mounties player, wearing the garnet and gold from 1978-1982. Chapman was the Mounties team captain in 1981-1982. Before returning to the Mounties last year, Chapman had served as a teacher/administrator in the Anglophone East school district for 32 years before retiring in 2017. At Bernice MacNaughton High School in Moncton, Chapman worked as the head coach with the varsity boys from 2012-2016 as well as 6 years coaching the MacNaughton varsity girls, winning back to back NBIAA Provincial Championships in 2007 and 2008.
Chapman is a two time NBIAA High School Coach of the Year, has coached on New Brunswick Provincial teams and still appears as a guest coach at numerous camps throughout the Maritimes. Steve also served a year as an assistant coach with the Moncton Miracles of the National Basketball League of Canada 2011-2012.
No stranger to accolades in the basketball world, Chapman was inducted into the Horton High School Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008 and is a recipient of Basketball New Brunswick’s Longevity Service Coaching Award in 2008.
Chapman is entering his 35th year of coaching this year.
