Mounties drop league opener; host STU Sunday

After a successful exhibition pre-season schedule and some momentum heading into their first league game vs Mount Saint Vincent University on Oct 28, the basketball Mounties suffered their first loss of the young season 73-54 to the host Mystics. It’s the first time in three years the garnet and gold have begun their season with a 0-1 start.

The Mounties only managed 54 points in 40 minutes of play, far from their average of 83 points per game over their last two outings. Fourth year small forward Mack Chisholm of Fall River, NS was one of two Mountie players to score in double figures with 14 points while Brett Curtis of Harvey Station, NB came off the bench to add 10 points.

The Mounties will have to regroup quickly as Nov 4 they have their home opener against cross province rivals St. Thomas Tommies (0-1) in a 5pm start. The Mountie women also play STU in a 3pm start.
