U SPORTS transfer to join ACAA Men's Basketball Champions

The Mount Allison Men’s Basketball team is pleased to announce that former FHS Black Kat standout Minwoo Park, will be transferring from Dalhousie University this fall  and making his way to suit up with the Garnet and Gold of Mount Allison for the 2020-2021 season.

Park, a 5’10 point guard, brings a winning attitude and proven success to the  Mounties, just recently crowned ACAA Champion earlier this month.  The resume is impressive:

  • Usport Silver Medalist as a member of the Dalhousie University Tigers 2020
  • 2 time AUS Champion with Dalhousie Tigers 2019, 2020
  • 2 time NBIAA Provincial Champion as a member of the Fredericton High School Black Kats
  • 2 time NBIAA All Star
  • Represented Team NB at 4 National Championships 2014-2017 including a Bronze Medal at U-15 at Canadian National Championships in 2015

According to Mountie’s Coach Steve Chapman, “ we are very excited with Minwoo’s decision to join our program next year. Minwoo immediately adds another veteran presence and a winning attitude to our team this Fall; he  can immediately become an impact player within our program and in the ACAA. He comes to us with valuable U SPORTS and provincial experience , has played with many of our guys on BNB provincial teams, and he comes from a great high school program.  Minwoo will really add depth to our present guard core, especially at the PG position. He has a pass first mentality, has a very good basketball IQ, and he is an outstanding defender. Minwoo is proven, knows how to win, so we could not be any more excited than to add such a quality student athlete to our program moving forward."

Park will continue his studies in a Bachelor of Science Program pursuing post graduate studies in either medicine or dentistry upon graduation in 2022.
