Mount Allison’s department of Athletics and Recreation is pleased to announce the creation of the Mounties Leadership Academy. The Mounties Leadership Academy is being introduced to help instil leadership skills and to encourage the personal growth of Mount Allison’s 220 varsity athletes.
To oversee the Leadership Academy, Mounties Athletics is pleased to introduce Brad Englehart as the Academy’s first coordinator. Brad began his role with Mounties Athletics on September 22nd.
Englehart is a former NCAA and professional hockey player who played his collegiate hockey at the University of Wisconsin. Englehart was drafted by the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks and he went on to play a decade of professional hockey in North America and Europe. When his playing days ended, Brad returned to his New Brunswick roots where he most recently has run his own business for the past 10 years.
“The Leadership Academy has been an important step we’ve had in our sights for the past couple of years,” commented Pierre Arsenault, Director of Athletics and Recreation. “When we began this process I don’t think we envisioned having someone with Brad’s unique resume of experiences, both as an athlete and a successful businessman being available to us. Brad will be great for the Mounties family.”
"I am extremely honored to be a part of the Mountie family," commented Englehart as he started his position. "I believe The Mountie Leadership Program will be a platform for student athletes to learn and build lifelong leadership skills. I look forward to sharing my past athletic and business experiences and working together with the student athletes and coaches at Mt. Allison."
The Mounties Leadership Academy will have two main streams of focus. The first area of focus will be a leadership program for an identified number of Mounties student athletes each year. Secondly, The Leadership Academy Coordinator will also help oversee community involvement opportunities for our Mounties varsity teams.
