Gamblin resigns to pursue AUS opportunity

Mount Allison Mounties Women's Basketball head coach Matt Gamblin has resigned so that he can accept the position of head coach with the UPEI Panthers of the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) Conference.  The Mounties have begun the search process immediately for the program's next head coach.

"We are disappointed to lose Matt as our head coach but we know that making a full-time career as a basketball coach has been Matt's ambition and we are happy for him to have earned this opportunity," commented Pierre Arsenault, Director of Athletics and Recreation with Mount Allison. "We are very proud of everything our women's basketball program accomplished during Matt's 5 year tenure as our head coach and we want to say thank you for his tireless dedication to our Mounties program. We wish him great success at UPEI."

During Gamblin's 5 year run as head coach, the Mounties continued to build strength to their program. In 2015, Gamblin and his Mounties upset the perennial league champions from STU to earn a berth at CCAA Nationals. This past season, the Mounties used a big championship game comeback to defeat the MSVU Mystics and to claim Mount Allison's first ACAA Women's Basketball Championship since 2005-2006. The Mounties also hosted CCAA Nationals in 2018 for the first time in school history, advancing to the national semi-final before eventually finished 5th in the country.
